"Baby if you think you're shy, do me a favor honey go someplace and hide!"

Have I ever mentioned how much I would utterly fail at being an english major? I just can't manage to formulate my thoughts into words when asked to say, describe my experiences and aspirations. Stupid scholarship essays. I'd much rather be working on my math paper. Blah. Or maybe I should just go to bed. But alas, it's before midnight, so there's no chance of that. I'll just pretend I'm out dancing and waste time posting an entry on LJ. Mmmm.....dancing. :D Too bad I'm not 21 yet, then I could go out dancing every night, instead of just twice a week. Sigh. I wonder how I'll ever survive?
In other news, I'm quitting my job. I gave notice a week or so ago. There just won't be enough time to work next quarter, or during the summer if I get into this research program I applied to. The more I go up to work and deal the the blood clinic, the happier I am that I'm quitting. Every single week there's some mix-up or another. Grrr. Oh well, only a few more weeks.
What else? My modeling class is going really well (that's mathematical modeling). The lecturer isn't the greatest teacher ever (in fact, he's actually quite bad), but he's funny and cynical (more cynical than me!) and the material we're covering is fascinating. The past week or so we've been talking about chaos in discrete systems, and this week I think we'll be looking at chaos in continuous systems. It's really neat, although a little difficult to understand. I also get to write a paper on the different models used to describe viral dynamics, so what happens when a virus invades a population of cells, and the different types of immune responses, or drug treatments, etc. It's all really neat.
Physics is stupid and I'm just counting down the days until I'm finished with it.
Computer Programming is a blast! I really enjoy writing code. (I know, I know, I'm a nerd, but I'm not ashamed of the fact that I look forward to getting an assignment each week :P ). My latest programming assignment searched through a file of names and their popularity for the past ten decades, and if the name was found it printed out the stats, as well as created a graphical output of the data. It was a fun program to write. :)
Sailing has been fun lately - I'm taking a class to learn about the keelboat, and once I finish it I'll be able to take out one of the club boats for up to a week on Lake Washington! We had some nice wind the other week too - it was great. There's also a catamaran class this weekend that I've signed up for, but I don't know if I'll actually have enough time to go to it. :( Sad. Oh well, I'm going dancing this Friday, so all is well. :D
I also get to go to Moab for spring break, and go camping with my family. I'm looking forward to that - it'll be nice to get away from the city and actually be able to see some stars again. Hopefully it won't be too cold.
Speaking of cold, I lost my really warm hat that was great for sailing! This happened last night when I had this crazy surreal adventure on a bus. So, Monday night is when I have salsa lessons. Geoff, Alexia and I generaly get a ride with Kevin, but he had to work last night so we had to take the bus. We'd taken it once before, so we knew the bus to take and the stop to get off. So, last night we get on the same bus at the same time, and hang out for a bit until we get there. After a while, it's about where we're thinking the stop should be, so I go up and ask the bus driver how much further it is. "Excuse me, could you tell me how much further it is to Dearborn Street?" The driver looked slightly confused, and then "Dearborn Street? I don't stop at Dearborn street." Now it's my turn to be confused, since we had gotten off at Dearborn street not three weeks earlier. I mentioned this to him and he replied "No, I haven't stopped at Dearborn Street in years. There's not even a stop there anymore." WTF? I'm a little upset now, because since I don't frequent this area I have no idea where I am or where to go to get where I need to be. So, the three of us get off the bus and make a few phone calls and eventually wind up where we need to be. In all the confusion of leaving the bus though, I left my hat behind. Anyway, when I got home I looked up the bus schedule online, thinking that maybe there were different stops for holidays, but no, the bus should have stopped at Dearborn. It was a very odd experience.
Anyway, now that I've successfully wasted time with this post, getting me closer to midnight when I won't feel that I'm slacking by going to bed, I'm actually going to go and try to get some work done. Goodnight!
