This post is coming to you in two parts.

1. Otakon this year was sort of weird. I had an absolute blast with my friends. They weren't bored at all. For the most part, they were totally fascinated, and for the rest they were cheerfully complacent. Thank God. The weird part is that Otakon itself was sort of sucky for me this year. My friends kept me so busy that I missed out on just about all the panels I wanted to see, though there weren't that many of them to begin with. They also caused me to forgot to check on lines and thus, no Kappei Yamaguchi for me. :( I only really managed the yaoi panels (my home friends, so not kinky), which were amazing as usual. Absolutely hilarious.

The other weird thing for me was the Dealer's Room, which totally disappointed me this year. I don't know how I can say that and still have spent as much money as I did, but then again, yes I can. I spent it all on manga and almost none of it on merch. I think it was just a product of the industry. All the anime I was into last year got licensed so all that merch was making the rounds again from the American side. The only new big thing was Reborn and I am one of the five anime fans left in the world who doesn't follow that series. I fared slightly better in Artist's Alley, but not by much. Only one artist had anything at all related to Oofuri, and it was only an at-con sketch of Abe (which I snatched up, of course).

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm starting to recognize that I am not a mainstream anime fan anymore. I'm not even normal in my sub-culture of choice. How facepalm inducing is that? Why can't I just be a Narutard like everyone else? (HahaHA.)

2. I sort of acquired a new laptop. I like it because the keyboard is more defined and it has a webcam, but it has VISTA AND I AM GOING INSANE I SWEAR TO GOD, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS OPERATING SYSTEM? Actually, it really isn't so bad all the time, there is just one particular problem that is driving me up the wall:

For some reason when I run Firefox, it works fine for a while, but then I'll randomly close a tab and suddenly the whole program will close like its been Ctrl-Alt-Deleted. Arg. Need Firefox. Do not want. I think it has to do with this computer's version of Norton, which I can't seem to get a handle on. Seriously, it is cramping my style. I'm wondering if reinstalling Firefox will help at all, but I am not technologically saavy in any way, so if that helps I'll never know what caused the problem in the first place to avoid triggering it again.

I'd ask my FList for advice but I think the vast majority of you are Apple users, you smart, smart people. *sighs self-deprecatingly*

computer troubles, otakon, angst, anime
