sea soaked strands,
and tangled tendrils,
float eerily in deepening light.

undulations underneath,
these wavering waters,
to remain - unmoving, immobile - is a dream.

pallid protrusions,
then clouds clarifying,
a hidden shape revealed against the dark.

intercepting invitations,
allocating avenues,
pulled up by tides, and hands, and will, and scales.

open air, open lungs,
open mouth and open sky,
drifting, swimming, now resting, on the shore.
