A Tiger Fest to Remember

Jan 25, 2009 11:08

On a personal note...

Yesterday was an unforgettable Tiger Fest for me, especially considering that it was my first ever.  As you may have already read, I was able to ask a question to Dave Dombrowski at the Press Conference Q&A about Kenny Rogers (mostly at the behest of my girlfriend).

Despite getting screwed a few times in the autograph department (i.e. waiting in line for 45 minutes and being like 5 minutes away from Granderson and Porcello when they switched to Dusty Ryan and Casper Wells) we were able to get Jim Leyland to sign a ball when he was walking between locations on the utility level.

But the most memorable experience yesterday was becoming the first person in the history of Comerica Park to propose to his girlfriend in the Visitors Dugout.

Kim and I are huge Tigers fans and Tiger Fest happened to be our 2 year anniversary, so I thought it was Kizmet.  With the help of a few friends at work, I was put in contact with the Tigers Public Relations department, and the next thing I knew, Heather Zara from Channel 4 was involved.  Their support and accomidations made this an unforgettable experience for both Kim and I.  I was amazed at how receptive and supportive they were through this whole process.

You can hear all about the story and see several Tigers wish us well on Sports Final Edition tonight at 11:30pm on Channel 4.
