Guys. GUYS! I got in. In what? In the co-op house I interviewed for on Monday! Am I kidding? NO!
IT IS REAL!
The phone call that confirmed it led to much fist-pumping and smiling and, later, going to bed happy instead of anxious for the first time since I've been here.
It's the purple one... of course google street view didn't drive right past it, so I have to give you this weird angle.
The place is part of the Morehouse group, a collective of collectives, and this is the longest-running one on the country. And there will be 13 other people living there, but the place is pretty huge. I'll be living in a basement room, but it's a pretty nice space, room for a biggerish bed, which is something I'll get for free/cheap from craigslist. There's a hot tub out back, where we are encouraged to go "in whatever level of dress," meaning that the people over sixty are probably pretty into being naked, which is fine. I'll be one of the younger people there.
I'm paying $600 a month for this room, though I'll have the option to move into better rooms as other people move out.
just, oh my god, the location (two blocks from the end of the panhandle, two blocks from alamo square, two blocks from friend alexandra, maybe 18 blocks from work), the neighborhood (lower haight / western addition ahoy!), the people, the kitchen, the showers, the hot tub, the openness, how California it is, GOODNESS.
Now, to work.
New address?
966 Oak St.
San Francisco, CA 94117
Now you come visit. You sleep on the couch in the living room because the people are fine with that. Or in my big bed that I'm going to obtain.
win!
