Anyone looking for a good online savings account? Check out Savings Square. It's a "high yield" 3.05% account (relatively speaking - Wachovia was paying half a percent last I checked) operated by an outfit based out of Oklahoma. They are one of the few remaining 5-star banks, meaning their liquidity is rated well above that recommended by federal guidelines. FDIC insured now to $250,000. I've been with them since the beginning of the year, and their customer service is exceptional. You press about one number between dialing them and speaking to one of their English-speaking reps in Oklahoma, and I've never been on hold for more than 3 minutes. The account setup was pretty easy. I was able to get the "premium" next day transfer service (no fee), which means you can click money back and forth between a checking account next business day if you do it before 5 PM Pacific. There are no other fees.
