Anyone know how to play no-string drums?

I want to run out to a pawn shop today and pick up an old beater, something I'm not gonna feel bad about potentially fucking up as I try to modify it for the higher-guaged strings. Although I've been looking around for equally cheap options, and happened upon this:
Guitbasses are typically only telecasters or stratocasters. I already have a "fake" strat, so I figured I'd go the other way with this.
