Short version: I snapped two more guitar strings.
Long(er) version:
I just got home and proceeded to practice the sweet new licks I learned for BNL's
Wind it Up. It's one of my favorite songs from the album, and I'm just pleased as shit that I can make my scratching sound even remotely like the recording -- so pleased, that I killed the hell out of my guitar.
Reading the tabs, it's pretty obvious that it requires techniques beyond my beginner's level, but I've been forging ahead anyway (hence all the practicing). Still, it sounds awesome, and I finally found a good use for drop-D. But the imbalance in the strings played has lead to the two getting the most abuse to finally give up, so it was no surprise that they went poof on one of those many strums.
I had a couple of backup sets, but I've been a cheap-o and haven't replaced the whole mess for most of a year now. Between all the mixing and matching and other craziness I've been subjecting it to, I think it's time I remedied that.
This is the price I pay for rocking so much...
