Superman Returns is the best Superman III ever. I seriously have no complaints... except that Kate Bosworth's forehead is very round. And she looks 10 years younger than Margot Kidder did.
I read several reviews which didn't exactly pan the movie, but complained about many things. That we didn't see enough of Superman (bullshit), or Kate Bosworth's Lois wasn't independent enough (also bullshit), Lex Luthor was mostly comic foil (comic, yes; harmless? hardly!), and any number of things that just weren't true.
There are a couple of lines copped directly from the first film. The entire final scene is almost shot-for-shot that of the '78 Donner film.
I gotta tell you -- Richard White is the hero of this film. How does a mere mortal compete with Superman, seriously? He does it admirably. Much better role for him than the whiny/useless Cyclops. Good choice, Singer.
And, for the record, Bryan Singer says "this is the most heterosexual film I've ever made." No lie. Look it up.
