Canceled!
Due to various factors (all ultimately beyond my control, but sort of fall under the "I should have known better" heading), the planned trip to see Transvestite Soup (etc) has been canceled.
Did I say Canceled? How about postponed? This weekend ended up not being good for several reasons:
1) Turns out Sunday is Father's Day (should have checked that), so possible sleeping arrangements, etc, would end up conflicting with planned family activities
2) Because Sunday is Father's Day, various people are leaving the area for the entire weekend, meaning the crew is severely diminished.
3) The only remaining place to sleep (and the principal reason I wanted to go) hinged upon somone I have not been able to contact for weeks. I gave myself a deadline of last night to get it all straightened out, yet despite my efforts I wasn't able to get anything to happen. My apologies.
I know this will disappoint many who were looking forward to it (I feel the same way), but mostly I'm sorry for those who moved their (work) schedules around to make this happen.
I'd still like to do it in the (near) future, and this time we'll get some better planning and communication going around. Tell me what weekends you're free this summer, and we'll work something out. Remember -- the TS schedule is about the same as VD, so only 1st, 3rd, and 5th Saturdays of every month. Plan on it being a weekend trip, as it's pretty far (especially for me), and getting back to Madison Saturday Night/Early Morning is inadvisable if not completely impossible.
Given the larger-than-expected interest by the Madison crew, it might be worthwhile to rent a hotel room or something similar, as I can't gaurantee that all of the sleeping arrangements I made won't come to a similar fate as this time around. Ugh.
