It's really true that you can't always get what you want. But when it comes to stocked items in a grocery store, you'd expect that to be less the case.
I go to Woodman's a lot for my grocery shopping, mostly because they're open 24 hours, but also because the place is just so HUGE that I can find just about anything I might want -- which is why it baffles me when they run out of specific things.
Pizza, for instance. I'll be looking for a specific brand/topping, and it'll be completely gone, while the other toppings available for that brand are all full or near-full. Was there a sale? Nope, just gone.
Juices? Well, this is an instance -- along with the "turkey altneratives" being completely cleared out one time -- where they weren't able to restock much of anything. But when I go over to the section with Silk (that
laviorli turned me on to) and ONLY the Vanilla-flavored stuff is completely out? That's weird.
Also, quite frequently, the shredded lettuce is gone while every other type of bagged salad sits at near-full capacity. Or that the one time I remember to get more cat food, it too is also inexplicably the only brand/flavor that is gone.
Now, imagine a confluence most of these things happening in one visit. RAGE.
The work vending machine is like that too. I'll find something that's pretty good -- like this trail mix stuff that's pretty great (especially after biking to work). After a while, the machine has to be restocked, but rather than refill it with the same item we usually get something else. I thought this had happened this morning, but it turned out they'd only moved it five columns over -- FOR SOME REASON.
