So far behind on this. A few random things.
Does anyone know how I can donate money directly to getting Elizabeth Dole unseated. Seriously, she has to run ads implying her opponent is "godless?" That's just so wrong in so many ways.
A) Is that the best she can do? My opponent doesn't believe what I do? Isn't this supposed to be a country of tolerance?
B) WTF. What kind of idiots are your constituents if your best, last hope as a strategy amounts to: "My opponent takes money from people who don't believe in magic: Clap your hands, and vote for me, or else Gandalf the wizard might die?" WTF.
Okay, that's just two ways, I guess. Ugh, this makes me so angry I can hardly think straight.
What kind of a fucked up country do we live in where people believe this crap to the point where this might be a good strategy? I mean, sure, believe in it like a quaint custom or a strong moral code all you like. Hell, believe whatever you like. But the day that you believe in your religion to the point where it's the issue that's going to decide your vote (or frankly, even a major political issue) is the day that you get your idiot card in my book. As if religions are the only possible moral codes, or even particularly good or relevant ones in this day and age. So ridiculous.
I just wish her opponent Kay Hagenhad had the courage not to trot out her own godliness in her defense. I wish she had just said: "secular Americans are Americans; religion has no place in politics, you stupid, evil bitch." But, you know, smoother. I guess you just can't, though, in this nation of idiots.
Fuck Elizabeth Dole. I used to have a lot of respect for her. Now I just think, "Oh, too bad Teddy Kennedy got the brain tumor, and not her." Kennedy is promoting health care reform in the limited time he has left in the senate; Elizabeth Dole, in her (hopefully) limited time she has left, is, by contrast, promoting illogic, unreason, and endarkenment. Fuck her.
Here Endeth the Rant.
Bruce Campbell isn't going to be in the Bubba Ho Tep sequel, Bubba Nosferatu. Boo! But Paul Giamatti is, and so, it seems might Ron Perelman be! Ron as Elvis! So cool. The store that sells dvd early near me had Hellboy II, but only on DVD. I'm holding out for Bluray, so I might actually have to wait until 11/11, which is when I think the actual release date is. H
ere's a link to an interview with Giamatti. Okay, more later.
