Shut up, stupid kids!
My apartment is right by the pool. Tonight there is at least one little kid, probably about 5, who is SCREAMING that annoying high-pitched slaughtered-pig noise that little kids do. For god's sake, parents, teach your kid how to behave in public, else she's going to turn into a teenage girl who shrieks whenever she sees a cute boy, a sale on shoes, or any of her friends.
As Keri and I often say, "Our parents didn't take us out in public until they felt we could behave ourselves."
She's five. She's old enough to talk. She's old enough to go to school. She's old enough to know that screaming is not a form of punctuation. I'm 100 feet from her and it's giving me a headache, I can't imagine how bad it would be if I were actually at the pool.
Which reminds me of the little girl (same age) in Brooklyn who, as Willow and I passed her on the street as she ran to her mom, decided to scream at the top of her lungs. And when I said, "Little girl, you shouldn't scream at people," she ran and told her mom (30 yet away), who actually yelled at me and said "what's the matter, did the little girl hurt your ears, big tough man?" I wanted to slap that wench in the face!! Instead, I yelled back at her, "You are a bad parent!" and then Willow pulled me away so it couldn't escalate.
