So I thought it was over, but it's not.

Now I have two choices: put it in the past for good or finish it right.

Putting it in the past is easy, outside of the bitter taste in my mouth. I just write a check and forget the rest.

Finishing it right isn't as easy. It means writing letters, preparing pleadings and consulting with former professors, putting together an itemized invoice of services rendered for which payment was not received, and... well, and just generally forcing someone to do the right thing.

Is it worth it? I don't know. It's not an easy answer.

Part of me knows the easiest way to go is just putting it all behind.

The other part is frustrated as hell at people not doing the right thing to begin with, and really wants to kick people until they do it right.

Why can't people ever take the high road and just be... real human beings?
