dream log 10-16-10

I had a dream last night of an impending zombie infestation. As silly as that sounds, it was pretty intense. To quote Inception, "Dreams, they feel real while we're in them right? It's only when we wake up that we realize something was actually strange." But I will write about it with as much detail as I can remember. I think this seemed like the longest dream I've ever had.

As usual it starts in the middle.
I see a lot of people running in panic. I ask one of my friends what happened.
"You didn't hear? There's a huge thing on the news about how some medicine turned people in the living dead!"

Ugh, I can't remember as much as I thought I could. I guess I'll summarize. So I had a handful of people in my apartment and we're trying to figure out what to do. The whole city is in panic. For some reason I live in some kind of bay area, and I walk outside and see people scrambling and panicking. I see ships in the distance, lots of them, all packed with people. My friends are starting to panic as well, since they can't get a hold of their families. They break down.

I gather my courage and devise a plan to get us all out of here. I go inside my apartment, grab a baggie of weed about the size of a closed fist. I thought it would calm everyone's nerves and keep them from doing something stupid out of panic. Chris' car is parked outside, and I tell everyone to get in. My old friend Craig from middle school is in the backseat for some reason, and he is scared. I tell him to take a hit to relax, and he admits he has never done it. I ask him to just take one hit and it should be enough. He does.

Chris goes to the passenger seat, I guess he could sense that I was the obvious leader of our little group. I get in and tell everyone to hold on, we have to go really fast. I drive down some long open field of grass. It's surprisingly sunny and beautiful out. How poetically ironic. I am an awesome driver for some reason, and am avoiding obstacles left and right.

Can't really remember much of the dream after that except for the ending.

We're in another apartment somewhere. I have successfully gotten us to safety and now everyone is calm -- for the moment. It's night now. I break out the baggie again and tell everyone that we need to make it last. I go to use the bathroom, which looks very.....industrial. I can see pipes everywhere, and it's far from sparkling clean. The floor and walls are plain concrete. I take a minute to breath and think of what we need to do next, and how I'm going to keep my friends safe. I wonder if Kira made it made it through all of it, and it brings my spirits down.

I go back to the living room where everyone has gathered. They're watching the news. I ask what is happening now. Someone tells me that everything was a false alarm; there are no zombies after all.

FFS

I think I woke up around that time.
