Straight up, Transformers can fuck off. Gobots is where it's at.

What a life! It's 11:30 at night and I'm working. Of course, work in this case is research into old TV. Oh YouTube, how I love thee. I started out watching clips of shows that were before my time, then gradually moved into finding stuff that I haven't seen in years in years. Ever since YouTube came out, I've had this fun thing every now and then where my mind just gets flipped sideways when I see something that I haven't so much as thought about since I first saw it, but that has been sitting in the recesses of my consciousness, influencing me creatively. It happened big time a few months ago when I saw the intro for The Great Space Coaster. The first one, and so far the biggest one, was when I found photos of the characters from a show called Passe-Partout. My design sense was so heavily influenced by the dresses the female characters had on, yet I hadn't even though about them since I was a small child.

I wonder if we're going to get a string of movies based on 80s cartoon shows over the next few years. They're making Transformers and Voltron right now, but I've been dying for a Thundercats movie for many years. I can totally see the intro scene, where you're out on this barren desert landscape, that car races into frame, we follow it, then come around behind it for the first glimpse of that huge cat castle they lived in. I wanted Ving Rhames to play Panthro, and there to be a CGI Snarf.

This one's for the older crowd: tell me if these titles mean anything to you: Bravestarr, Silverhawks, Thundarr, Kidd Video, M.A.S.K., Visionaries, Centurions...

Cheetara was fuckin' hot, hey?
