So for those of you who still post on LiveJournal or still read periodically, I have had a very extended absense from posting on my own journal. Nonetheless, I do read my friends page quite often because I have not forgotten about all of you, despite my recent college expedition.
I figure its time for an update about my life so far!
COLLEGE:
College is fun. I'm in a sub free hall with a bunch of cool kids and we mostly stick together, doing insane things to have fun including INTENSE nerf gun wars and BLASTING heavy-bass music through my 250 watt poweramp of death. (It can be heard five floors above us). First semester went fantastically. I took Physics, Calc II, English (last semester of english EVER!) and Engineering. Engineering was lots of fun, got to explore MatSci and CompE. I have since decided that I am no longer intersted in Mechanical Engineering, but am interested in Computer Engineering. My other thought besides CompE is a five year major in CompSci (more programming heavy than the hardware-oriented CompE) and Electrical Engineering. I'm not sure though, I barely fit the requirements of the double major into five years, so I don't know if I'll be stretching myself too thin by not being able to take electives and focus on a single area. Whatever though. I'm kind of interested in robotics. Next semester is Engineering 1(programming) Calc III Chem(ughhhh worse than english!) and Economics. Wahoo!
MUSIC:
I'm involved in lots of music at Lehigh. I'm in a big band and a small ensemble through the school. The Big band is for credit, the ensemble is not. I'm taking lessons with Vic Juris, an AMAZING player out of new york. Good teacher too. Aside from that, I'm in a funk band with some upperclassmen that will start gigging soon, and I've played a few gigs with some upperclassmen jazz people, including one I lead myself, effectively the first paid gig I've ever played. Woo! I'll be the main guitarist in the jazz department next year as a SOPHOMORE which rocks (the current main player is a senior, he's awesome). Things are cool. For a while I had desire to double major in music and engineering, just for the ability to get knowledge about music, but then I looked at the course catalogue and a lot of it is music history of eras I really don't care about. I can learn the theory and composition on my own.
ELSE:
Life is good. Still with Kathryn, one year next month! I love her just as much as ever, the distance isn't nearly as hard to deal with as we expected, largely due to the close friendship we have in one another aside from the relationship. Not working this break, but I hope to get an internship somewhere this summer. Mom knows a guy in a senior position at Sikorsky's engineering department, he thinks something can definately be set up. I'm also applying to GE and Google. Who knows!
I dunno. I suppose thats everything. Did I forget anything?
