Well, it's been quite a while since I last dropped any news here, and although I have to be dragged away on an outing in a minute, I thought that I might as well make a start at explaining my period of absence.

Post-exams, the first couple of weeks were spent, as you might imagine, in absolute torpor. Every day involved as much drink, sun and outdoor activities as possible, and indeed the fun continued even after I had been forced to abandon my cosy (and actually much missed) room in college to return home, since I had been booked into Royal Ascot for two days in the week and had my college ball to look forward to as well. Both days' racing were great, with a family group going on the Thursday for Ladies' Day and a friends group going on Saturday. It was very nice to do it slightly differently from normal too, and the Saturday was certainly one of the more eventful day's racing I've ever experienced.

In between the two the Magdalen ball took place - on the Friday night - and so Chris and I had a wonderful evening of white-tie spectacles and delights with fireworks, dodgem cars and hog roasts, to name but a few of the entertainments. I wish I had time now to elaborate more, but the general idea was that those weeks were fantastic but left me utterly drained and in dire need of sleep.

After a brief pause for rest, I managed to sort out a summer job back at school on a summer school for Chinese students, who I am teaching English for the next two weeks or so. Hence why I am on call to be whisked off to Windsor at any moment to take them around the castle and why I can't really elaborate any more. However, hopefully now that some of the context is established then I will be able to update further during the course and fill in more gaps and impressions. It has certainly been a delightful and interesting experience these first few days, so there'll be more to say without a doubt.
