i'm at work and holy crap there's nothing to do
i think i should make it very clear that i come to montblanc ready to work every day. i show up at 845, 15 minutes early, and i often leave past 515, more than 15 minutes late. i complete assignments immediately. anything my boss asks me to do, done and how asap. well, my boss left this morning for las vegas, where he'll be until wednesday. this leaves me boss-less and, more significantly, work-less. i mean, there are continuing things that i do whenever they come in, but there are no such items pending at the moment. it's not like there's nothing to do around here. everyone, including my boss, is always talking on the phone or firing off seven emails or rifling through pieces of paper or walking briskly across the office with infallible determination. not me. not that i have a huge problem with getting paid for writing a livejournal entry. in fact, i'm quite accustomed to such a system from my employment history at school. but i'm here, and i think it would be nice of me to help these clearly stressed people. oh well. i'm around, everyone. if you need anything, just call me. i'll come.
more importantly: alcohol is in order this weekend, preferably friday night. i just got paid today, and i'm in the mood to spend. i don't think my house is good this time. we just had the floors redone and the walls repainted on the main level and i think my mother might combust if i have two dozen drunk 20yo's milling about (dylan, i'm thinking about you now). someone else, please volunteer your house or suggest some other appropriate venue. i'm already putting together a list:
* 1 handle skyy vodka - cool bottles
* 1 handle absolut citron vodka - to be consumed via straw
* 1 handle sailor's jerry rum - homage a la monsieur brendan daly
* 1 handle jose cuervo gold tequila - i can't stand the stuff, but i seem to be in the minority on that
* 24 corona extra - classic
* 24 fosters - why not?
* 30 busch lite - this is a concession to jesse, because i don't care about coors that much and there's other beer
it has been recommended to me that this week's trip down the shore should occur on sunday, for both weather and personal reasons. this seems to be a sound decision, and so sunday it is.
i plan on buying a new computer this summer with my luxury goods profits. i was going to have peter build it for me, but i think i may not do that. i customized my own systems today on hp.com, gateway.com, and dell.com. making a system that i'd be satisfied with costs me in the neighborhood of $1800-2000 on each. bleh. i think i may have peter build me one.
back to the job, for a moment, i think everyone in the office is going to las vegas. this is a deduction i make after seeing everyone in my little section leave today, and then lots of other people packing up. it's okay guys, i'll man the fort. who wants a free diamond watch? $5000 pen, perhaps?
