Well, the main highlight of the past week has obviously been that Jamie came to visit me (yay!). He came on Friday and left on Tuesday, so it wasn't the longest trip ever, but it was a lot of fun. Driving him to and from his hotel was a pain in the ass (1 hour round trip twice a day), but it was definitely worth it. Here are some of the highlights:

-We had lunch with Colleen which was really nice (yay for Friendly's!), and then we all went to see a live performance of the Rocky Horror Picture Show in the theater across the street...that was interesting. Kind of baffling at times, but all in all very entertaining and worthwhile. The only bad thing about that day was that we had to walk all over campus in the POURING rain. yuck.

-Jamie, Isabelle and I went into Northampton (where Smith College is) and window-shopped, got ice cream, saw Grizzly Man, and ate authentic New England Mexican food (I thought that was an oxymoron but it's not). That was a lot of fun and very relaxing, even though most of the shops were closed seeing as it was Columbus Day. That's ok, Jamie was probably thanking his lucky stars that we couldn't actually go shopping.

-We went out to buy a cheap VCR for our room but when we got to the mall we found that no VCRs cost less than $55 because they're so fancy now. DVD players cost less than that! So we decided to not get one so we just walked around the mall and came back. Kind of a bust but a very spontaneous one so it was ok.

Also while Jamie was here I had two more riding lessons which were both really fun. I love riding, and I'm actually getting better!

So, some of you may have seen on the news that New England has had so much rain in the past 7 days that valleys are flooding and houses are being swept away. Something like 7 people have already been killed in New Hamshire by the flooding. Over Columbus Day weekend we received an entire month of rain in one night!!! The lakes here on campus are both really high and what used to be a nice little stream is now a raging torrent with white-water rapids (practically). It makes the waterfalls really pretty, but if I don't see the sun soon I am going to EXPLODE. I am soooooo sick of this rain...and it's not supposed to let up until next week! OMFG!!!!

My calla lily

On a lighter note, my mom is coming next weekend for Parents Weekend and I'm reeeaally excited about that. My aunt and uncle are also going to drive over from Boston to see me and my mom, so it should be really nice. Yay.

So I've been looking at these internships with the New England Aquarium and I thought I had no shot at them since I'm a first-year, but I called them 2 days before the application was due just to check and they said they don't really care about age that much. So I went into overdrive writing my resume, cover letter, getting letters of rec, etc. It was like applying for college all over again, but worse because I only had a day and a half. I had to overnight it to get it there on time but I got it all done, and the people at the Career Development Center here on campus said that it's a really strong application. God I hope I get that internship! *crosses fingers*

I got my Psych test back today- 96! woohoo! And my biology test today went really well. It was really short so I got to leave really early. Yay for college!

Ok, I'm tired of typing, and I'm sure you're tired of reading, so I'll cease and desist.

(Sam: I'll send you something! Don't worry! I still love you!)
