this is an excerpt from the book, "tuesday's with morrie". it's a really good book that i'm reading for my christian vocations class. basically it's about this college proffesor who is dying and one of his students writes one last "thesis" (the book) on all of theprofessor's life. oh also, morrie is this crazy professor who is actually pretty sane in our insane society.
"It's 1979, a basketball game in Brandeis gym. The team is doing well, and one student begins to chant, 'We're number one! We're number one!' Morrie is sitting nearby. He is puzzled by the cheer. At one point, in the midst of 'We're number one!' he rises and yells, 'What's wrong with being number two?' The students look at him. They stop chanting. He sit's down, smiling and triumphant." (159)
that is an awesome quote. what is wrong with being number 2?!
