So Madonna is adopting a baby boy from the African country of Malawi. Malawian law forbids the adoption of its citizens by non-Malawians, but the government has written Madonna a special exemption to allow her to carry through with her plan. This has outraged various human rights groups, who are now petitioning the government to block the adoption.
Good one, human rights groups! Save that baby from a life of feckless luxury and freedom from want! Return him to his rightful dilapidated orphanage!
...so, am I missing some key point that makes this make sense? Because from the cheap seats, its looks less like a human rights issue than a "we hate it when celebrities get special exemptions" issue.
