In Which I Prattle On About My Name

Oct 12, 2006 16:13

On the subway a woman mentioned to her friend that she heard "her" song on the radio this morning-"Jane", by the Barenaked Ladies, which she joked was named after her (presumably, her name was Jane). That got me thinking about my name, and how there will never be a song named after me.

Really pointless dissertation on my name )

Lisa Pizza. Yeah, that's all they were able to do with my name.

But I get cups with my name on them all the time.

Sorry.

Mike has so many Jeffs and Chris' that he and his friends call them by the last name as well.

When I was 4yo, a boy I knew used to call me "Alisa, a pizza" - He was Cameron, so I called him "a camera."

I'm with Murray though - nothing ever came with my name on it. It was so depressing.
I used to make my own "Alisa's Room" signs for my bedroom door (using an Apple II, Print Shop, and a dot matrix printer).

My name actually comes from a movie (though it's spelled Elisa in the film). The character I'm named for isn't even an off-screen character - she's imaginary! (And Clint Eastwood sings about her. The horror.)

My parents tried their damnedest not to saddle me with an unfortunate name or initials. How were they to know that a movie would come out called E.T.?

Heh. I went out with a gal once whose initials were E.T. As we headed out the door, her dad would invariably call out "E.T. phone home".

Oh, Murray
don't you worry
Don't be in such a hurry,
to get to the Kebab-N-Kurry...

Ah, I've got nothing. Sorry. But I tried. (With a little help from the rhyming dictionary.)

My first name is Tiffany.
I have not had a unique name ever, until my jr. year in college I had /never/ had a class without two or three of us. It is the suck.
My nicknames included: Fanny, tifFATani, smellany, and freckel faced cartoon.
Do you feel a little happier about your insulation?

Your last nickname there raises the point: just because they coudln't do anything with "Murray" doesn't mean I was immune to Cruel/Insulting School Nicknames.

By the by, I think Tiffany is a nice name. :-)
