Vacation Update

Had a brief respite from the power-drilling right outside our bedroom window over the weekend, but they were back at it at 8am this morning. Mrs. Clubber finds earplugs help her get through it; I find earplugs cause me to lie there, wide awake, thinking about how weird it feels to have shit crammed in your ears.

We went to the Canadian National Expo (Comic/SciFi/Horror/Gaming) convention, but declined to spend the extra $80 each required to bask in the radiant presence of Mr. James Marsters for a whole hour. It should be noted that I purchased nothing for myself, and for Mrs. Clubber, who referred to me as a Nerd for wanting to attend said convention, we purchased 2 t-shirts, a stuffed animal, a graphic novel, and a pin.

Sunday we went to the Cirque to Soleil (the "Corteo" performance), and watched human beings make the performing of absolutely astounding feats look ridiculously effortless and graceful. We sat in the second row, about five feet from the stage, close enough to see facial expressions and get wet from the "tears" jetting ten feet out from the mourner's eyes (it was a funeral). You know how at rock concerts they will send out large, inflatable balls for the audience to pass around? They did the same thing here, except they used a midget ballerina harnessed to five weather balloons. We shall likely attend again, although we may sneak in our own munchies next time (you could save money by buying a combo --two medium drinks and a regular popcorn-- for 'just' $18).

The best part: despite all this gaity, I still do not have to return to work yet. Wheeee!
