Tron: Legacy

I saw "Tron Legacy" last night. We (Ian and I) saw it in plain ol' non-IMAX 2D, which proved to be a plus because the theatre was less than full and we got decent seats with nobody sitting in front of us. I also think the film might be too dark (in terms of lighting) to enjoy with 3D glasses, which makes tings even murkier ( Read more... )

I re watched the original recently and the programs not only looking like their users "made in his image", but acted like or had skills or not depending on what kind of program they were was one of my favorite aspects of it. It created a world, a second level of our own reality, much like The Matrix did some 20 odd years later. I loved the dialogue with computer terms as slang. I'm disappointed to hear that won't be part of the sequel. (I'll possibly get to see it next Wednesday.)

Incidentally, Steven Lisberger, the creator behind the first movie said in the audio commentary that many people approached him after the movie came out and mentioned the TRace ON command and how appropriate it was for the character's name. He admitted it was mere coincidence, much as he would like to take credit for such cleverness; it was just a cool sounding name he picked.

I have been compeletely unable to get jazzed for it. *Nothing* in the trailers says 'this is a must-see'.

My attitude has been "meh, I'll probably see it."

(Not so) glad to see my suspicions are accurate.

I think it's sweet that you think Pirates of the Caribbean hasn't already jumped the shark. I'll see the new movie, of course, since I love all things Johnny *and* Sparrow. Double rainbow all the way!!!

I was actually being lazy with that title for the fourth movie — I usually refer to the second and third movies as Pirates of the Caribbean: Already Running Out of Ideas and Pirates of the Caribbean: Jump That Shark, respectively. I just borrowed title #3 for use in my blog post, and you caught me out.

Who knows. Maybe it will be The Reboot That Saves The Series. I worry that it will much more likely be Star Trek IV: Save The Whales, though.

I saw the trailer and thought it looked like a movie that will be able to hold my attention for two hours. I don't know if they've used the same writers for this new one as the other ones. I don't even know if they used the same writers for 1, 2 and 3. I think that probably matters a lot.
