I really like the show Chuck. I've seen every episode, and since the last episode ran mid-December, I've been watching for its return (it ended with a loose thread that I am eager to follow to its resolution).
I read in today's paper that it's back on regularly, starting tonight. Hooray! And to celebrate, they're
running tonight's broadcast in 3D.
ME :...wait. I don't have any 3D glasses. How can I watch this, NBC?
NBC:You can't. You need the 3D glasses to watch this episode.
ME :What?? But I'm a huge fan of the show! I've been looking forward to this!
NBC:Well, you were supposed to keep the 3D glasses you got to watch the 3D ads during the Super Bowl.
ME :But I didn't watch the Super Bowl. I don't like football.
NBC:...wow. We did NOT see that coming. We figured anyone who's a fan of a show about a computer nerd who works in the tech department of an electronics store was BOUND to be a huge football fan.
ME :So where can I get these glasses?
NBC:Well, you can either go to one of
these stores (in the United States, anyhow, we don't know what the deal is in Canada)...
ME :[face buried in hands] ...uh-huh...
NBC:...or you can call 1-800-646-2904 and Pepsi will mail you a pair for free!
ME :By tonight? And in Canada?
NBC:Uhh, no. And... [checking] no.
ME :Why am I only finding out about this by reading my local newspaper the day of the broadcast?
NBC:Well, that's pretty much your own fault. We've had it on the Chuck website for some time now (and everybody knows that no one simply watches a TV show an more -- you go online to continue the Chuck Experience). Also, we mentioned it several times in conjunction with Super Bowl that we assumed all you computer nerds would flock to.
ME :I see.
I conclude this admittedly whiney rant with "Fuck you, NBC. It's a little thing, but I was really looking forward to this show, and you douches fucked it up. So fuck you. I'm watching House."
