Well, I'm woefully inept without my Googling, but at least I got a few (I think!)

3) Dr. Strangelove, President Merkin (Google that for fun) Muffly, Peter Sellers.

4) Lord of the Rings, Gandalf, Ian McKellen. I could be wrong; I think he says "Is it secret, is it safe?" or something like that.

5) Coneheads, the Movie Dan Aykroyd. Not sure what the character name is.

7) Dodgeball; can't remember character or actor name :P

...and that's all I've got. I've got hunches on some of them, but for fear they're wildly inaccurate, I'm just going to keep quiet.

My completely arbitrary scoring mechanism goes: 3 points for the movie title, 2 points for the character, 1 point for the actor. So:

3) Correct on all counts! 6 points
4) Incorrect on all counts!
5) Yep and yep. 4 points
7) Yep! 3 points

You've got 13 points, which puts you in the lead, since no one else is playing yet. Good show!

This morning, out of no where, I wondered, "What the heck ever happened with seal_clubber's movie contest?" And here I am, to review my shame. Way to go, gmajor!

gmajor has a slight advantage here, in that we like very much the same type of movies, and often either see them together, or loan each other DVDs.

Thanks for playing!

2. Oh God. I remember Ian reciting this one, but I don't remember what it is... I'll kick myself when I find out, won't I? omg, just from the inflection as I repeat it in my head, it can be none other than (Steve Martin)!! Ah but which film!

3. 'Wargames' (The General, same guy who was the principal in Ferris Bueller)

5. I'm gonna say 'Coneheads' (Ackroyd).

6. Ghostbusters! (the Bob or Doug Mackenzie guy (oh, just revoke my geek license now...))

7. I'm gonna guess 'Dodgeball' (Stiller)., though I haven't seen it

8. 'Bladerunner' (Rutger Hauer) HAH! I just recited that very speech at Easter dinner for the whole family! (No, really, my family aren't all complete nerds, I swear).

9. 'Predator'? 'Alien'?

10. 'Hitchhikers'???

2) Got the actor correct. That's 1 point.
3) Nope!
5) Yep to both. 4 points.
6) Yep to the movie, but no points for the actor. 3 points.
7) Yep to 'Dodgeball', nope to actor. 3 points.
8) Yep to movie and actor! 4 points
9) Yeah, no points for multiple-guess shotgun answer approaches.
10) Why, no.

Total: 15 points, and you are in the lead, sir!

(Of course, once gmajor gets ahold of this list, it'll be 'everybody out of the pool'.

3. I was teetering between Wargames and Dr. Strangelove -actually typed it out, but Wargames ended up being my final answer.

I was thinking that that quote could easily be attributed to Wargames even as I entered it.

#4 is actually correct, but I grant that it isn't what you had in mind.

But 10 points. Go me!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the line "Is it safe?" has been uttered in more than a few movies. I was shooting for the most famous one (and pretty much the best-known line from Marathon Man).

1. Tremors, Fred Ward, don't remember character's name.

2. The Man With Two Brains, Steve Martin, Dr. Hufharrur

3. Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love The Bomb, The President, Peter Sellers

4. Jurassic Park

5. The Coneheads, Dan Ackroyd, Beldar Conehead

6. Ghostbusters, Rick Moranis,

7. Dodgeball

8. Bladerunner, Rutger Hauer, Roy Batty

9. Aliens, I remember the line, but I'm stuck as to who said it. My first thought was it was the female medic who was naturally among the first killed, but I can't remember her name. It could've easily also been Hicks, Hudson or Vasquez, but then I'd be just guessing.

10. Men In Black, Wil Smith, Agent J

Yup, I'm out of the pool with my pitiful 10 points. How could I not have remembered Rick Moranis?

I'm thinking of applying a handicap of -10 points if your name starts with a "g" and ends with a "major" next time, just to give everyone else a fighting chance.

Looks like most of the ones I know are taken, but:

#6 is Ghostbusters, Lewis... uh... something, played by Rick Moranis. Alternate character name: The Keymaster.
