Wired magazine has directed me to various places of interest (good and bad) on the web:
CuteCircuit.com, makers of technowear. The
Hug Shirt is a bluetooth garment that transmits embraces. Put it on, give yourself a squeeze, and its textile-based sensors send pressure and temperature data through your cell phone to a friend's, promting his/her Hug Shirt to replicate the cuddle.
Aaaaaaaand about thirty seconds later, someone somweher will experiment with long-distance groping.
I can imagine what it's like talking to someone in the process of being mugged. "Hey, what's that sound? Are you okay? OW! What th-- OW, DAMMIT!"
The
Accessory Nerve is a shirt sleeve that changes pattern (creating pleats) when the wearer receives an incoming call. If the user is busy, he or she can simply flatten the pleats, and the caller will automatically receive a text message saying "I'll call you back later".
Interesting stuff. I can see some seriously useful applications for the "PhotoPhore", a swimwuit that lights up in salty seawater (I'm thinking lifejackets, etc.).

us.beautifulpeople.net, a dating site where you must submit a photograph and be judged suitably good looking to be allowed to join (because "looks matter").
Attention, Hackers! I will give you a shiny dollar to plaster "Morlocks Are Coming" across this site!

World of Sand: I have spent far too much time on this site. Sand, Water, Salt and Oil stream down from the heavens. Draw things of different materials in their path and see how they interact. Set it all on fire (whee!). A slug-like creature roams around, eating your creations. It loves water, but hates salt. Set it on fire, too (Wheeee!).

Okay, back to work. No, really.
