Smellgoods!

I couldn't resist the description of Milk Moon with the last update, so I got it and a few imps that have been on my wishlist. I also seriously debated Tokyo Stomp (Bloody Mary was also tempting, but it was Tokyo Stomp that really caught me, because, mint!), but two bottles was stretching the budget a little too far, so I opted out. Luckily, a friend got into a decant circle, and I will be able to try both Tokyo Stomp and Bloody Mary, thanks to her generosity.

Anyway, my shipment arrived today, and since I've been so bad about getting reviews done and up, I've decided I'll start doing First Impression reviews whenever I first get a shipment, so at least I'm sharing something of the experience. *G*

Milk Moon - bottle. A fertile scent, generous, life-affirming, and swelling with a sense of triumph, warmth, and abundance: sweet milk, golden honey, fig fruit, pomegranate, dates, and white grape. I'm a fiend for honey, and I've found the BPAL fig and white grape notes smell really excellent on my skin. Just sniffing in the bottle, this one smells very tasty, with the milky note grounding the sweetness and richness of the honey and fruit. I doubt I'll love it the way I do Hungry Ghost Moon (and I'm still on the lookout for more bottles of that one, if you know anyone selling), but even just sniffing it in the bottle gave my creativity a little jolt. I anticipate this will be a good writing scent.

Imps

Succubus - There's something very sharp and a bit bitter in this one, almost soapy. I'll have to see if it settles when it's on my skin, but I'm approaching it with caution.
Cockaigne - Sweet grains and mellow liquor. Might be a tad too sweet, since my skin likes to grab sweet notes and run with them, but it smells both good and evocative in the bottle. I predict I'll get some good writing out of it.

Manila - Wow. This smells totally and completely unlike any other BPAL scent I have yet encountered, and it is amazing. Very heady and tropical, with a thick note of perfectly ripe banana you can almost taste, balanced out by a deep, glorious green note. This just might be the scent for Heart Root. Whether it works on my skin or not, I'm hanging onto the imp for sniffing purposes.

Bewitched - Northwoods, crumbling old stone school or church overgrown with ivy, a museum, a professor in a fisherman's (fisherwoman's) sweater stirring tea. Wild blackberries, heavy and juicy, yet there's a bite to the air like autumn coming on. Yeah.

Snake Oil - I bought this one largely because there are scents in the Snake Pit that keep tempting me, but I wanted to see if the base scent would work on me first. Unfortunately, there's a bite to the "Indonesian Oils" part of the equation that reminds me of red musk, which has a bad tendency to cause migraines. I may have to pass on trying it. Bet it'd smell fantastic on Megan, though.

Eden - Fig, honey, almond, milk, wood, coconut. In the bottle, it smells like a slightly more complex version of Queen of Sheba. Which I adore, though not as much as other people of my acquaintance, so I'll be trying this one, but then I think sending it on the rounds, so those with the hardcore QoS love can test it out.

Frimps

Dragon's Blood - I think this is one Jenn let me sniff, though I can't swear to it. Maybe it's one she wanted to try. It smells a bit like cinnamon chocolate on the outside, but when I open the imp, this really strong floral note comes out. Hmm, I'll have to think about if I want to try it, but I can already tell I'll be passing it along. You want dibs, Jenn?

The Lion - Amber, but with some kind of sweet note softening the edges. Evocative. Could be a good writing scent.

The Ghost - *is smacked in the face with white florals* Well, there had to be one that was red flagged. At least it wasn't more than the one this time. Anybody a fan of white florals?

Alas, nothing in the Friday the 13th update sounds like it'd play nice with my allergies. As a 13th baby, the day tends to be lucky for me, so I was hoping. Oh, well, that's money to feed another addiction. *G* And I'm told Blue Moons are often something to look forward to, so I'm excited for that.
