BPAL: Queen of Sheba

Catching up.

Description from the site:

A woman of exquisite, unearthly beauty, profound intelligence, wit, and exceeding wealth, the Queen of Sheba - called Bilquis by the Muslims and Makeda by the ancient Abyssinians - traveled by caravan to Solomon's realm seeking proof of the king's reputed wisdom. Bearing gifts of exotic spices, a veritable mountain of gold, hearty camels and precious stones, she presented herself to the king and, bearing her heart to him, asked him a series of challenging questions, and was ultimately convinced of the truth of his wisdom, knowledge and judiciousness. In the end, the great king and queen conquered each other's hearts and fell breathlessly in love: the perfect marriage of equals. Her scent is a bounty of golden honeyed almonds and a whisper of African and Middle Eastern spices.

In the Bottle:

Almonds, honey, spices, check. I think there's cardamom in here. Mmm, cardamom

Wet:

The almond is the strongest scent, with some kind of savory spice just behind it. Unfortunately, despite usually having a good nose for these things, the only spices I can really identify here are cardamom and a hint of cinnamon. It smells really good, though.

Drydown:

The spices take over for about thirty seconds, then the honey jumps up and makes it a team effort. The almond becomes an anchor.

Dry:

There's no real top note, everything's so perfectly balanced. This is an incredibly gorgeous scent, though I don't know that it's quite me. It's a very dry smell, a fragrant desert wind, and I am much more a water and green person. On the other hand, I now have an idea for a poem about the Queen tickling my brain, and that's one of the best outcomes from trying a perfume I could have asked for.

Spouse Report:

Spouse, alas, couldn't smell anything. May have to try again later.

The poem is actually drafted now. Once I have a title, I'll be requesting betas.
