over a zillion years ago when i started this yearly project i sometimes had over a 100 cards to make ALL BY HAND!!!!
the design has to be quick and easily repeatable!!!!! i use basically water color with markers or pens some years i've used some glitter glue or added colored tissue
when i got older - more involved with organizations - i cheated ! made a drawing or painting copied it on my printer then pasted it on some sort of backing still my work but except for the pasting (and writing) not individually hand done for each recipient
almost always the same design for all cards a couple of years i couldn't decide which design so i made some of both "winners" i make sketches and designs and mock ups of one(s) i'm considering
the final "job" is an assembly line production If i'm am doing each individually i have to guard my spontaneity - if i get tired the effect is gone so break down the process into "steps" to final card divide the cards usually into fives there is usually one group of five in a process waiting to move on that way i also don't get bored
between the cards and the fruit cake Solstice/Christmas is something i bring into existence
at the height of my "power" LOL! i was making 100plus cards - 5 fruitcakes - cookies - fudge a mound of presents for 14 people each person getting more than one - plus local single presents each individually wrapped and sometimes color coded - with at least 4 paper choices and ribbon choices at the height fruitcake & baking were part of presents plus mailing it all finally when we moved to NJ I found UPS! When we lived in CA the post office demanded the box be wrapped in brown paper and tied with twine The present thing could be exhausting!!!
And of course cleaning and decorating the house Blame it on my mother I grew up with Christmas being a BIG DEAL!!! and NOT celebrated and prepared any earlier than the 15th
over time i simplified - i had too even if "no longer of the faith" we still keep Advent a period of going with "nature" i've always loved Advent
