Lily Jane

I've been updating facebook, but haven't written a blog post about Lily yet, so it's about time.  I've just put more pictures up at our photo website:

Lily is doing great, gaining weight, sleeping, pooping, keeping mom and dad up at night, all the typical newborn stuff.  She's really a pretty happy baby, not too fussy (so far).  She looks a lot like Amber, when Amber was a baby.  I call her "squeaker" because of the little noises she makes, sleeping or awake.  Right now she's humming softly in her sleep.  Jeff says she's "disgruntled", since she grunts so often (and it's not always diaper related).

I'm recovering well from the C-section, almost off of pain meds now, and we're doing a lot better with breastfeeding at this point than I was with Amber, so that makes life a little easier.  I'm still taking naps almost every day, but I'm usually managing to get going in the morning (showered, fed, etc) by 10 am, usually a little earlier even.  We'll see how that goes next week when I don't have any help.

Amber is still very excited about being a big sister.  Whenever we go somewhere or someone visits, she wants to introduce everyone to her little sister (friends, relatives, strangers, store clerks, waiters, *everyone*).  "See my sister?!?  She's Lily Jane!  I'm a big sister!" usually with excited jumping up and down.  The first thing she does coming home from day care is to check on Lily, and she wants to hold her at least once a day.  She's getting pretty good at telling us when Lily is hungry (any time she starts crying) or if she has a stinky diaper.  Amber's not too good at getting the pacifier in Lily's mouth yet (a trick one of my co-worker's two year old managed without us even noticing), but she'll get plenty of practice, I'm sure.

I'm not sure I can speak for Jeff, but he seems to be doing well also.  :)  He takes Lily when I've been up for 45 minutes feeding her in the middle of the night, and she's not falling asleep afterward.  He's been getting Amber ready in the morning, feeding her breakfast, getting her dressed and ready to go to day care, all while I'm still in bed sleeping.  Right now he's making a bunch of frozen meals for us to eat in the next couple of months.

And that's the news from the Greenfield household.  :)
