ved_vies_kto gave me:
Amsterdam: Oh, Amsterdam. Probably one of the coolest / most random stories of my life. Amsterdam means to me getting extremely sick in Ireland and then getting lost in London trying to find my coach and then meeting
ved_vies_kto in Canterbury and riding 13 long hours in the coach (with a small reprieve on the ferry where we met some strange lads) and finally arriving in a country where bicycle parking is everywhere and finding FINALLY some clove cigarettes and beer carts pulled by houses and shouting Darth Vaders in squares and good underground transportation that even a non-Dutch speaker can suss out. It also brings memories of delightfully strange music from Kaiser's Orchestra (probably the best live show to which I've EVER been) and the adorable, Swedish, cat-loving Micke from Sweden and drinking and Dutch people and awesome hostel and first taste of marijuana and stroooong Irish coffee, and rainy riverboat rides and pancakes and red light districts and too many souvenirs and a crazy Dutch bus driver on the way back who tried to kick a guy off in the middle of BFE, Belgium. Mostly it means spontaneity and new friendship. Adventure.
Linguistics: Linguistics would be the major on which I decided when I was only 16. It has since become a burden I must bear until I complete my degree because I need to finish things I start. However, there are some things about linguistics I enjoy. For example, learning how to make all of the sounds in all of the (known) languages comes in handy and having random fucking facts and being able to figure out word-ish type things faster than most people is kind of okay. I'm sure I'll look back on it and be glad I got a degree but now I just wish I wasn't a linguist.
Neil Gaiman: Sexy, British, short-ish, smart gentleman. My fire for Neil Gaiman has fizzled quite a bit (especially now that he's dating Amanda Palmer) but I still deeply respect his literary work. And his life. And cats. And dog.
John Green: John Green and his brother came to me at a pretty depressed point in my life. They gave me people with whom to talk about smart things and things at which to laugh. They were a pretty big part of my life for a year until I actually started to have a life.
Polaroids: One of my absolute favorite things in this life. They capture moments and memories and life, love, life, love. I see my Polaroids everyday and I cherish all 4 of my Polaroid cameras. It's wonderful having something physical at which I can always glance if I desire to see any of the people I love. Not to mention I just love the squareness of them and the instant gratification after the click-whooooosh of pressing the shutter button. Quite possibly the world's most perfect form of photography.
