So, now that I have just driven around aimlessly with Steve and mike trying to find something to do, but couldn’t, I guess I will do a little update and then head off to bed so I can get up early and pack all my not so much crap up and study for my last final of the semester. I definitely am doing really well this semester. I got a B in Shakespeare and I am almost positive I got a 100 on my biology final, which will make bio the my first A since I’ve been at MMA! Anyway, data management shouldn’t be too bad and American Government should end decently. And so I will be home Monday night. Jess wants to take me out for an end of the semester lunch on my way home, which I thought was really nice of her, plus it will brake the trip up some. Tuesday I think is already a packed schedule. I definitely have to take care of my whole bank issue, fire dept situation, and see the dermatologist (and of course sleep in!).
Ok, enough about school. So I went down to see if chuck wanted me to work at all this weekend yesterday and he was like, umm yes, I do, I want you to come sailing with us (chuck, Ian, Darrel, and Joe) [tomorrow]. So I went sailing today. I had an awesome time, even if the seas were a little ruff. How often do I get to go out on a racing sailboat? It was good too cuz they all let me do stuff and taught me the “basics” of racing. Anyway, it was definitely a terrific way to spend my last Saturday of the semester (even if my feet did get a hard-core sandal sunburn).
So to back up time wise a little to Memorial Day. I convinced my dad to march with his Vietnam veteran guys in Wyckoff since he hadn’t done so in 6 years cuz he has been supporting me with my fd/squad. Well, I felt it was time to support him and wow, was he ever happy. I must say I was too. It was great to see him marching with his buddies in the front of the parade and actually go to a meaningful ceremony. And as usual, Doug had everyone over to his place for a picnic afterward and it was just like old times. Mr. Smith and Mr. Stimola were their funny selves and Doug and his wife were as usual very interested in what had been going on in our lives. It’s amazing how much there is to catch up on when you don’t see people for 6 years and how much you miss when you are young! I didn’t know that Doug had been a medic in Vietnam. We definitely had some interesting stories to share. Anyway, I was kinda sad to have to leave early, as I was definitely enjoying myself. I am almost positive that from now on, we are going there for Memorial Day. The guys want me to teach them how to march again next year before the parade! How funny is that?! Plus, Memorial Day is my favorite holiday, and to see my dad happy means the world to me.
Alrighty, I think it is time to try and stand up strait (a little difficult after rocking and rolling around all day on the boat) and get some lotion on my feet and get off to bed.
