Ok, so it is definitely official this time…my time with the Andover Township Volunteer Fire Department has ended. The lies, harassment, and abuse I have received for 2 years reached an all time low last night. When I am accused of doing something on a call I wasn’t even at (I was at school, 5 hours from home) and also the officers don’t feel my heath and safety matter at a fire, I know it is definitely time to leave. Not to mention my heart doesn't need the stress. I know I said I was resigning this winter, but figured that I would give them one last chance (I generally am not a quitter), and they blew it. Too bad I am filing an OSHA report against them now. We’ll see who’s laughing a few months from now; it wont be them. I feel bad cuz lot of the guys are great to me, and my experience has been wonderful, but the fire department has changed for the worse. It isn’t a brotherly organization anymore. It’s full of backstabbing individuals who could care less about anyone except their few “buddies”. And don’t tell me the current officers are leaders; they are far from it. All they are are arrogant sons of bitches as far as I am concerned. Plus all the political bullshit has reached an all time high. Anyway, I talked to Duggie last night and he totally understands and said he even has had his letter written out several times in the past two years. He told me that from what he can tell I like my forest fire and medical work a million times more than the structural firefighting. And he is right. The funny thing is, I am actually happier now.
So, anyway, what else is new? Hmm, went to CT Friday and Saturday. I got to see my sister (always fun) and Ian and Mal on Saturday. I got to meet one of Mal’s good friends Linnea too, who was really nice. Sunday I got to see Chris and then went for a long, long walk with my parents and dog through Hyper Humus, which apparently the state owns now. Monday was squad and fire calls. Tuesday, hmmm, well, how about stopping by the bank, only to find out that they are so short staffed they would have started me right then and there, then a phone call from my dad with a phone number for an ATF agent. All I can say is, my dad always pulls though when I need help most. I call this agent and ended up on the phone with him for almost 2 hours! I got more than enough info for my briefing, plus everything I would ever want to know about becoming an agent. The guy was awesome and even gave me his house number if I had any other questions and couldn’t get him at the office! Needless to say, I think I may call him again in the future, but for personal interest regarding the job and such. So that was cool, then had lunch with my mom and headed back to school after one last squad call.
So I have one more week to be a teenager! My parents and sister are coming up for the week for their spring break. Good timing huh? Plus I’m gonna take a special lib for Thursday so I can just get out of MMA and do what I want with the family.
Ok, back to homework; or well, procrastinating.
