I renewed my driver's license online a couple of weeks ago. It was just too convenient not to, despite having to forgo replacing the fairly outdated picture. I have a different hair style and color now, and every time I get asked for it I get the squint/look/squint. Now it's even better! That's awesome. We just got our Ohio driver's licenses last week. They let you approve the picture before they print it out, right there in front of you. My first new DL picture in 10+ years, it finally looks like me again.

They let you ok the picture? That would be a dream! That might have even been enough to tempt me to make the appointment and actually spend a little time down at the ol' DMV. Seriously, the picture on mine looks so "first season". You know, before the show has a clue or a budget.

The bad news is that the driving tests, getting the actual license and then doing car registration are in three different places here. The good news is that there aren't any lines and the people are genuinely friendly.

But yeah, it was very different from California. Go to the corner, sit down and have your picture taken. Approve it and 2 minutes later you have license in hand.
