[He's sitting on the floor near the fireplace, hugging a pillow to his chest, looking depressed.]

[He takes a step out of the fireplace, and kneels down next to him, putting a hand on his shoulder.]

[He made his way toward the kitchen, taking a bit of time before he found a kettle, filling it with water, and starting to heat it up. As they waited for it to boil, he decided to at least have a small chat with him.]

Matt had to go to France on an emergency.

I don't know why, but there would be a good reason. Aurors would fight them mainly because they are the agents of the ministry, and would try to bring them to justice.

Maybe someone in their family was one, and decided to confront them. Or they found out their friend was one and, again, thought it best to confront them about it, or to try to talk them out of it, and failed.

Either that, or there's some personal vendetta against one of them. I don't know.

[A pause]

But why have you asked me that? There must be a very good reason why you're asking that specifically.
