This is another one I find hard to watch. Poor McGee, just when he's finding his feet and his confidence, this had to happen. As with Tony, his teammates gather round to support him.
This episode has a great opening sequence, something out of the ordinary for our team. They are providing protection for some high naval mucky muck as he leaves whatever building he is in. In the process of that, McGee sees something suspicious and then shots ring out. We don't actually see what happens immediately before the shooting, as we've cut back to Gibbs. What happened in this little missing scene is the point of the entire episode.
They make a reference to Abby's fear of autopsy from the first season. She says she wants to assist at an autopsy and Jimmy feels threatened. From Ducky's comments here and elsewhere, it appears that Jimmy is a medical student. He began his studies in the fall of 2005.
I find the sperm bank side story totally inappropriate for this main story. I wouldn't like it under any circumstances, in these I think it's disgusting.
Tony really has McGee's back here. He's not teasing, he's not stealing his food, he's not giving Tim a hard time in anyway. Right from the first minute he expressed his support. When he shows up at McGee's apartment he's acting the way everyone would expect Tony to act, but when he comforts him, he knows what to say.
Shades of Baltimore. The (as it turns out dirty) cop asks Gibbs how long it takes to know your partner's dirty. The answer is: it depends on how good your partner is at hiding it.
Gibbs has got to stop underestimating Jenny.
The end is so sad.
I find the solution, that is, that the other gun ended up in the car, a little hard to believe. I'd've though he'd've thrown it wide.
