That's my baby!
Went to one of Emma's away games today; it was at a school new to the roster. The game refs were different from the usual people, point being, they didn't know Tire-Boy & I from Adam.
The girls did really well. They played great; had an amazingly cooperative passing sequence that gave one of the forwards a breakaway that resulted in a goal; another girl did this, this, twisty-stick-THING that took the ball away from an opposing player neat as can be.
So at the end of the game, Tire-Boy wandered over to see if Emma needed help with the goalie bag, and I was folding up our chairs when the 2 refs walked past. One of them said to the other, and I quote: "Were you watching the little pink goalie? [Emma's goalie shirt is bright pink tie-dye; the other goalie was wearing white.] She pulled out some unbelievable saves."
Shriek! They were talking about my baby!
On the drive home, we passed by this ordinary building that had a GIANT Hummel figure out front. Very surreal-- a huge alpine boy yodeling at the cars passing by on a New Jersey highway. Turns out it was a Goebbels factory outlet, but it was still Weird. I need to figure out a way to use it as a Christmas card pic.
