Stabbing pains woke him up. It felt like his stomach was trying to eat itself with acid and steak knives, except it was too low to be any real stomach sickness.
It centered more towards his lower abdomen and Merlin but it hurt

"Time of the month for what exactly?" Seamus forgot for a moment that he was a girl until he heard his voice again. He ignored it. The pain was easier to understand at the moment. He'd try to wake up later.
A very good nightmare, this. He never felt such blatantly physical pain in his dreams. "What are you talking about, Vati?"
Parvati sat up in her bed and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. She was fully awake now. She stared at Lavender and wondered what was going on, since Lavender had had periods before.
"It's your period. You're having cramps, Lavender."
Parvati was totally lost now. But she decided to act like nothing was wrong.
"Yes, she does. You should go see her soon."
She gave Lavender a strange look. "I can't suck anything up. I thought you knew the spells to help with this sort of thing? Maybe you're forgetting them in your panic."
If he was a girl - and he hoped he wasn't, because this would be awful to live with, he might as well pretend he had been one all along.
He laughed nervously, pulling his stomach in as another surge of pain clenched his muscles together. "Yeah. Um. Yeah. I just forgot them for a second. So early, you know..."
...
He didn't have the faintest idea what to do now.
Go see Madame Pomfrey?
But then what it - and Seamus still couldn't quite believe it was happening to him - what if all those stories he had heard his mother chatting with her friends about when he was younger had been true? With the blood running down legs and staining underwear and just - no. Wrong.
"Lavvy? What's wrong?" she asked sleepily.

His stomach hurt.
"I'm dying," he groaned. "My stomach is trying to kill me."

He stopped, opening his eyes in sheer surprise. "But they hurt. I've never felt pain like this before..."
...Maybe he should start concentrating on the girl thing. Why was Vati calling him Lavender?

Why was Lavender acting like she'd never had a period before? Parvati thought to herself. She scratched her head, totally confused.

"Madame Pomfrey has those, doesn't she?"
Anything to stop the pain.
Suck it up.
Seamus scowled slightly in delayed reaction. "Why don't you suck it up? It's sore damnit."

He couldn't possibly be a girl.

Lavvy's answer sounded reasonable enough. Merlin knows she couldn't think properly when she got up.
"Oh wait, there's a couple of other things you need to know."
