This was started while Queenie was still kidnapped by Nashos. Thus...yeah, thing thing stuff stuff.
It's short because we don't need to see them eat, do we? :P
Ted: *skipping stones along the shoreline*
Lucas: *seated on the shore and watching Ted skip stones after stone. It's a good thing that Ted isn't cooped up in his room considering how many people are concerned for the ex-rune bearer*
Ted: *bending down to find another smooth-flat stone -- four jumps seemed to be his limit. Summer made it too hot to stay indoors here, especially with his choice of suitable clothing* I heard a woman was kidnapped around here lately. *picking out a skipping stone before staightening his posture and looking toward Lucas* I'm surprised the whole place isn't out looking for her. Is it ordinary here?
Lucas: *did propose other clothes from his own drawers that would be more suitable for the season, but since they were all nixed, there isn't much he can do about it. Perhaps they should go by the tailor and find Ted something made of lighter fabric?* Not as far as I know. *picks up a small rounded stone and tosses it back and forth between his hands for something to do* I'm certain the concerned individuals are already doing what they can to rescue her. Beyond that... *shrugs* I can only speak for myself when I say that I'd rather watch from the sidelines this time.
Ted: *nodding once, walking toward Lucas and taking a seat near him -- he spoke while looking out at the water* It isn't wise to get involved in all things of that kind anyway. Besides, you have your own people to look after. *draws one knee to his chest*
Lucas: Sometimes, yeah. *keeps on tossing that stone, careful not to toss it in Ted's direction in case* My crew's self-sufficient enough, even without my presence. It's just more reassuring to me if I watch over them. And Maxine seems to have taken on caring for the children, as has father. *doesn't have much to do due to that sometimes*
Ted: I see. *turning his dark-gold eyes toward the captain, forgetting for a moment that he was still holding a stone in one hand* It feels a little weird to be relieved of the usual responsibilites. *referring to at least two things there*
Lucas: *shifts his gaze from the water to his friend* Weird how? *toss, left right*
Ted: Worrying about something you shouldn't have to be worrying about. *resting his chin on his drawn-in knee, genuinely uneasy about the latter statement* Maybe it's just me. In that case, we don't have to talk about it because I've had enough talking about myself lately.
Lucas: Nothing wrong with worrying about things though. *but will go along with Ted's wishes* So what topic did you want to cover today?
Ted: Why don't you choose? *dropping his hands to lean back on them*
Lucas: Hmm... *thinks briefly about that...though most of what he comes up with are related to Ted... He just shrugs* The menu at the cafe then? Though we could just go to the shop and find you something made of lighter fabric than what I lent you.
Ted: *smiles lightly* Well, we could talk about the menu along the way.
Lucas: *smiles right back* All right, we've got ourselves a plan then. *takes a moment to toss stone as far as he can in the water before getting up and dusting himself*
Ted: *does the same -- four skips still* So, do you eat at the cafe often? I've been there once, but only for some water and to borrow a knife.
Lucas: At least once in a week. *waits for Ted to be done before making their way to civilization* I'm just vaguely disappointed at the lack of seafood. There're a few dishes, but I'd have liked to eat some crab buns.
Ted: Hm... I bet those would be a labor of love to make. It takes a little work to shell a crab. *following Lucas, walking alongside him* Speaking of food though, I heard from some of the locals talking about preparing for a festival.
Lucas: Mm... *he acquiesces as the docks appear again in the horizon* That thing's been pushed back so often I'm surprised it's still going to happen.
Ted: Would you come with me, Lucas? *asking suddenly, intent on seeing more of what castle life is like* I feel like I should go, but I'm not so sure about going alone. I'll understand if you're busy though.
Lucas: *briefly quirks a brow to that, but nods readily enough* Sure. It would be a good opportunity to see more people. *there are a few he hasn't seen in a bit himself, but that might be because he hasn't gone too far from the lake in general*
Ted: *giving the captain a grateful smile* Great! I'll feel a lot better knowing you'll be there as well. If a lot of people go, it'll definitely be a good chance to see many at once.
Lucas: *it's a sad day when Ted cannot stand on his own two feet the way he seemed to in this time, but the captain doesn't give it much thought, quite used to being around a quiet Ted when the older man went in public* Indeed... we'll just need to be on the lookout for when it'll happen exactly.
