Lesson of the week

If you are ever in an auto accident, no matter how minor, if you ever make any medical claim, save those records for life.  Because decades later a Medicare recovery group can run a query and find that you had an auto accident and even though you were treated and released with minor soft tissue damage, your Medicare benefits from that moment on could immediately be denied AND they come demand back any and all payments made since.  Now if you were medically needy and had hundreds of thousands of dollars in that time, care that started long before the minor fender bender, you will be sent a letter asking for all those dollars back.  Of course, if you are on Medicaid with squat to your name, not really an issue, but the fact that the companies providing your critically needed services are now not being paid, a bit of a problem.  And the sickest issue of all, the only agency that will ever make any money in this venture is the outside recovery auditor, who gets paid for all your time they get to waste.  Even IF there was a remote connection between your current issues and your auto accident, Medicare won't ever see a dime because as a disabled client in this situation has zero to recover.  What a scam!  This is my life as a guardian, folks, it sucks.
