saltspring

Nothing like being 1 hr from departing for vacation and getting hit by a teenager. It was more frightening and flashback triggering than damaging. Conor screamed for a good 5 min, but for the 1 min it took me to get to him it was in some ways reassuring. She tore thru a yield sign on a side street and clipped our van just behind the passenger side door-the side Conor was on-and spun us off to the right onto the parking strip, slowed down by a small tree. Our van sustained only a small dent but we were worried that the axle could be affected, seeing that she did clip the tire. So axed was the plan to take the van and our bikes, taking jerry's smaller car instead.

Despite that and the minor colds that snuck up on Conor and I, we made great time across the border to our 6p ferry. Saltspring was heavenly. We ate farm fresh goodies from the org farm where we stayed, hiked, swam on a sweet, little lake, ate in a treehouse, walked tidepools, fed sheep and even geeked out on a doctor who special. Pics to come, still driving home and texting from my G1. Back to reality, work and body shop estimates....ugh.
