I don't even have to say I'm tired, that is already implied by the title of the post.
Itinerary for this week :
Monday - LIM Package (outfield)
Land Infiltration Movement Package was the first of a few lessons on how recces move tactically on the ground. Sucked because it was tiring, wasn't too bad because we knew we were going back the end of the day.
Tuesday - 12km Fast March
12km in 30kg Full Battle Order, my team did it in 114 minutes. Tango 14, you guys are (Y)
Wednesday - LIM Package (outfield)
again.
Thursday and Friday - PST (Field Camp)
Rained on Thursday morning, walked more than 15km for missions and drills, 1 hour of sleep. Need I say more?
...Plus, word is going around that even after the course, the SCTs are not going to receive their rank until the current ASLC batch passes out, and THERE WILL BE NO BACK PAY OMGWTF. The F in SAF does not have anything to do with Fairness.
It's the time of the course where I start to question myself and ask what the blue hell I'm doing in this course, why I'm pushing myself so hard, why I grit my teeth and solder on when people around me are reporting sick, etc. Being outfield presents many opportunities to study military drivers. Every now and then when I'm walking in the hot noon sun, my field pack on my back, perspiring like a punctured water bag, there's no doubt a 5-tonner or land rover will drive by; I look in and see fat slobs sitting behind the steering wheel, the Transport badge on their arms, relaxing in comfort. It's almost like I can detect a faint smirk as they drive past, then I wonder wtf am I doing in the sun.
Derek once told me PRIDE stands for People Rest, I Do Extra. I don't know about that but real pride doesn't come easy.
Next week sees the start of Exercise Long Walk, which is a 72km continuous navigation in 48 hours. I really want to get into the RSTA Hall of Fame by coming in first with my team under 30 hours. I really want to see my name, along with my team's, up there on the RSTA board, in gold. But I feel so tired, I don't know if I can make it.
This week has been long and tiring. I am now covered in heat rashes all over, and I've got severe foot rot thanks to the rain. Goodnight.
