Anybody else notice that Aarseth criticized the use of interactivity to describe video games. I really found this interesting because we so often use this term to describe these pieces of new media.
Perhaps video games, as they do with narrative, merely present the illusion of interactivity. Video games like any medium are restricted by certain limits. In the case of video games these limits certainly place limits on the interactivity of the game. Interactivity in video games is restricted and limited rather than free and boundless.
