"Except today doesn't count, does it?"
I watched a bit of the Buffy episode "After Life" today, specifically the first 15 minutes or so up until all the Scoobies storm into the house to find Buffy. I was bowled over again with how much I really really REALLY love the scene where Spike finds out Buffy is alive. Man. IT STILL GETS ME. His face is incredible. And the way he sort of touches her but not really as they're walking to the couch, knowing he needs to be gentle with her, but also probably not sure she'd even want him to touch her? My heart. And then they look up at each other together after he takes her hands. So good. My inner Buffy/Spike shipper is still there!

Now that I'm done with watching Persuaders! episodes for the first time, I can start re-watching! \o/ (I'M SORRY TO THE 99% OF YOU WHO DON'T CARE ABOUT THIS SHOW.)
I wanted to refresh myself on the pilot so I watched it with lunch today. Thoughts and lots of screencaps from the pilot, "Overture":
1a. "What do you know about Sinclair?" "Everything!"
1b. "What do you know about Danny Wilde?" "Not everything. There are some oddly blank areas in his background, but I know enough." Iiiiiiiiinteresting.
2a. "One without the other is no good."
2b. "Jointly, like chemicals...take nitro and glycerin and mix them together and you have a very potent combination."
3. Oh that's right, Danny has his own plane.
4. Brett looks so surprised when the woman kisses him. He often looks surprised when women kiss him. Hee.
5. This episode is the most female action they will ever get. What changed? Oh right, they met each other!
6. Tony Curtis' hair is grayer here than in later episodes. I...huh. Huh.
7. And so it begins. Danny thinks they're having fun, Brett thinks they are being serious. AND A LOVE SONG IS PLAYING. "WHERE THE SKY IS BLUE ABOVE / AND THE SKY SHINES DOWN ON LOVE" "LEAVE BEHIND THE WEATHER / WE CAN FIND THE SUN TOGETHER" NOT SURE WHAT ELSE I'M SUPPOSED TO THINK HERE.
"So if you hear me knockin at your door / Don't wait a minute more / come out and join me / we just gotta try / until we're flying high"
The show ships them SO HARD.
8. Even their cars love each other.
9. Oh god the thing about the olives and how they gently bounce up against each other. "You don't want to bust up a pair."
10. Danny is so clearly flirting and having fun and does not get why Brett is so mad yet.
11. "I never did it to a Lord before." I...I see.
12. This is classic meet cute stuff. I mean the whole show is one giant romcom.
13. Danny: still kind of having fun!
14. Danny prefers to stay on his feet. An old habit. The backstory fic just PRESENTS ITSELF.
15a. "A nothing who became something. And now you're a nothing again." Danny gets SUPER SERIOUS. Danny's super serious face FREAKS ME OUT YOU GUYS.
15b. "Born with a silver spoon in his mouth. And all he ever does is lick the jam from it." And there's your show!
16. I have to say, I really love how Brett looks in this shirt. Also, they are not very touchy with each other until they start working together and then it just gets more and more.
17. She realizes immediately that it's a threesome. And she is thrilled.
18. Ahhh the slow-mo fight. Hee.
19. They orbit around and close to each other right from the beginning. Always standing right next to each other, looking to each other for confirmation and support, trying to make each other laugh, protecting each other, touching each other. It's really beautiful.
20. When the shooting starts, Brett goes to get the drinks. Oh honey.
21. Danny shoots a guy! And the bad guys decide to take him and run - SMARTLY.
22. "You think I'm going to risk my life - or his?" Awwwwwww
23. "I should've just taken their guns and just.." "Why didn't you?" "Because I'm a coward." HEE
24. Brett inappropriately starts drinking again.
25. "Daniel now, come on." "I'm coming, I'm coming, believe me, I'm coming." Someone needs to do one of those audit edits with this show. Hee.
26. She shot her own brother! One of the least-developed female characters we get on the show, honestly.
27. Danny is trying to check out and Brett is trying to talk to him and hold on a little longer.
28. "I'm not sorry it's over but...I really rather enjoyed it." OH BRETT HONEY. I find it fascinating that he's the one initially who wants things to keep going the most. I mean it totally fits with their characters, but I'm still intrigued by it. This show is SO CONSISTENT with their characters.
29. "Come on, Daniel. You didn't think I'd leave you out there?" And thus ends the pilot, as it began: with a threesome. <3

It's going to be really strange vidding this show. The camerawork is an interesting mix of static with some very original shots like the one above. And the coloring is kind of flat in the transfer, so hopefully I can make it pop with some correction.
