But now that the well has been uncapped, I have LOTS to say and Tumblr isn't totally cutting it for me.
I've been re-watching the Prison Break movie, The Final Break and, as I mentioned on Tumblr, I am disappointed/rage-y all over again that there was no Michael/Mahone hug. Actually, having re-watched the entire movie since I made my Tumblr post about the hugging, I can confirm that THEY NEVER TOUCH ONCE in the entire movie. This is notable because upon first seeing Linc and Sucre, Mahone gives them ENORMOUS BEARHUGS, so it's not like he's allergic to touching. And Michael also hugs everybody BUT Alex. So instead I am forced - as often a non-canon pairing fan must - to read into the smaller details of interactions, which is actually pretty rewarding with these two because they actually both say SO MUCH with seemingly insignificant things. Alex in particular is very much about body language (and William Fichtner plays him that way; he is a seriously talented actor and inhabits the whole body of the character).
All of that lead up is to say that this scene, now that I was paying specific attention to it, absolutely blew me away in terms of the understated emotion going on there. This is where Alex is brought to see Michael for the first time in the movie, and he's got information about the FBI that are spying on Michael & co. And Alex says, "I'll help you, if you need me," which - man, that "if you need me" is basically Alex showing his belly to Michael and it's underlined by the fact that Alex can't even look at Michael when he says it. He turns his head (as seen in this screencap) and says it to the empty part of the room. He can't bear to see Michael's response, to look in his eyes, because what if Michael says no? What does Alex do then? I don't think this is him trying to hide his FBI ties, either, because he flat out tells Michael that he's there to spy on them for the FBI.
THESE TWO, Y'ALL. THESE TWO.
And while I'm here, have another shot of Alex being attractive:
We also are watching more Parks & Recreation and are firmly into season 2 now and I LOVE EVERYONE IN THIS BAR SHOW!
Leslie Knope is, like, my new personal HERO. It has become one of those situations where I love her SO MUCH that I am helpless before it and cannot actually articulate WHY. *gestures at her EVERYTHING*
I weirdly ADORE Ron Swanson - total adoration, not just bemused, 'he's funny in his over-the-topness' way. There is an almost gooey center hidden deep within Ron Swanson, yet also not hidden at all, in the strangest way! His relationship with Leslie is so beautiful. (I just watched the one where the Woman of the Year award came up; that and Galentine's Day are what sent me over the edge.)
Tom has finally won me over because what seemed like him being an inconsiderate jerk all the time has actually morphed into him being a clueless hipster, and I can feel sympathy for that. Andy and April are the only two I'm not 100% committed to, but even they are (mostly) pretty adorable and getting more adorable by the episode. I want MORE DONNA PLZ. Less meanness to Jerry (it's the only part of the show that makes me uncomfortable, especially when it bothers HIM). And Louis CK's cop was SO CUTE omg. I also finally like Mark and Ann/Mark, too, which is ironic since I know he leaves by season 3. Heh.
But, Leslie Knope = A++++++++++++++++++++++
Need icons. STAT.
