How did it take so long for me to hear about this?

Geek Girl Con is this weekend in Seattle! Jane Espenson and Gail Simone will be there, along with other media guests that I am not as familiar with. Heh. Looks like there's some very interesting panels running; anyone on my flist going?

I LOVED last week's Community. The Jeff/Annie chemistry was much better, and I feel weird that the show is maybe going to actually go there. It's been awhile since I shipped a pairing that actually existed on the show. I don't know what to do with myself. The Britta/Chang stuff was EPIC, too. And the Model UN storyline was hilarious and made me nostalgic for when I was in JMUN (Junior Model UN). I represented Mongolia. Good times, good times.

We finally finished Life! I was worried they weren't going to be able to wrap up so many important details, but given the constraints they were working with I thought they did a fabulous job. Although the sudden death of Nabokev was almost anti-climactic. The scene where Charlie exchanged himself for Dani really got me. (Also, Sarah Shahi - SO CLEARLY PREGNANT, hee. They used all the standard TV tricks to hide it.)

We started watching the commentary for "One" and they said that they actually didn't know if they might still be picked up, but I can't imagine what a season 3 would have been like after so much had been resolved in season 2. I'm sad the show was canceled though. They had some of the best crime plots I've seen in awhile, the actors were great, and the sub-plot of Charlie's continued growth was subtle and well-done. I'm a big Damian Lewis fan now and am going to have to catch Homeland just for him.

PS - still not shipping Dani/Charlie romantically AT ALL, so I choose to believe that last scene is just the eternal, platonic love between partners. I am however shipping Charlie/Seever pretty hardcore. They have such an interesting dynamic! And she's so awesome. Also awesome is Amanda Purier (sp?), the security lady. O.M.G. I would watch a MILLION HOURS of her and Ted bantering. Also not shipping them romantically, either. (Ted/Olivia 4EVA.) But Amanda is great.

I would love to vid this show. Just have to see if any songs hit me for it. It's gorgeous, though, and their use of light is spectacular.

Now we have to figure out what to watch next. We have the DVDs of several currently-airing shows as well as several long-dead, and I can't decide which one to go to next. Help influence me, flist?

And finally, more of the Vidding meme or I'll never get it finished.

Day 24 - Betaing - How many betas do you like to use to make sure there aren't any major flaws in your vid? Do you have a Beta horror story or dream story?

I used to have one beta that did all of the beta work for me, (aw, Fer, I miss you!). I talked to her about my ideas, I bitched and moaned to her, and she reviewed my vids and made excellent comments. We had a great rapport. As she got busier and busier, and my vids started branching out further from fandoms she was in, I started looking to other people. Nowadays I have a group of people that I complain to/get cheerleading from, one primary beta for a vid project, and then usually at least 1 other person who looks it over before it's done. I get itchy if I have too many people beta'ing a vid in-depth, so I still like having just the one major person providing commentary. (Though I did get excellent double commentary from china-shop & elynross for 'A Bad Dream,' so that way can totally work for me, too!)

Full list of questions.

Off to make breakfast and read more of the Unholyverse. *shakes fist at BrynnMck*
