Daaaaaance with draaaaaagons
I am 100+ pages into the newest A Song of Ice and Fire book! I am totally unspoiled otherwise! But I just wanted to say a couple of things about what's gone on so far/general thoughts.
SEE YA, JANOS SLYNT. DON'T LET HELL'S GATE HIT YOUR ASS ON YOUR WAY IN. MUAHAHAHAHAH.
GRRM has once again managed to make me like (or at least be intrigued by) a new character when my first thought upon getting to Quentyn's chapter was: "I don't CARE about this person UGH." Heh. Looks like he might be the third head of the dragon, then? INTERESTING. So Dany has been betrayed once for blood and once for love already; who is going to betray her for gold? Quentyn for the golden sands of Dorne? Tyrion for the golden head of his brother Jaime (or the golden lion of Lannister)? Or, if fandom's intense wishes come true and Jon meets up with her, will it be Jon? Is it possible one of the other heads might be a woman instead? I would love that. (Irri or Jhiqui ALL THE WAY).
ION: GRRM walks a fine line, for me, with Jon Snow. I don't actually like Jon very much, but this tack about him becoming the Commander and having to deal with all of that is actually working on me. Which is good since Jon is clearly one of the "heroes" of the book. I'm glad he cut off Slynt's head himself. I suspect Stannis appreciate that as well.
I look forward to reading more! Whenever I can fit in a sentence or two at a time. Heh. (Though I did stay up well past my bedtime last night just to get started on things.)
