Feelings, I has them

Mostly about Community, although I'm discovering that I'm apparently not immune to this new version of Hugh flu. All these years I have been mostly unmoved, and yet he enters this bald, badass glee (TM troyswann), I-want-to-pet-puppies-not-kick-them phase and I'm infected. Like, badly. Fannish adoration is a tricky thing. So I'm watching ALL THE FOOTAGE ( Read more... )

it's about a group of people that I would be interested to spend some time with, whatever situations they're getting themselves into and whatever the show's context

This is it, exactly. They are such great characters that I just like seeing them in everything.

The first episode I ever watched was 'Modern Warfare,' which is the paintball episode that's a loving parody of every action movie ever made. There's some character stuff in it between two of the main characters that means more if you've seen the rest of the season, but honestly I don't think you need it. I didn't when I watched it.

Modern Warfare is the best episode of season 1, so if you want to work your way UP to that, I'd also recommend:

- the Pilot episode (in general, I think it's always worthwhile to watch pilots, if only to get that first introduction to the characters; this one is pretty good and there are a couple of laugh out loud moments, but it's not one of their stronger episodes by far)

- Introduction to Film (surprisingly moving)

- Social Psychology (a nice all-around episode)

- Introduction to Statistics (season 1's Halloween episode and the first one where they really started playing with the concept of the sitcom)

- Beginner Pottery

Honestly, I would recommend almost all of the back half of the season, but I tried to weed it down to a few that highlight the show's offbeat style/humor. :)
